Problems Associated With Septic Tank

By: Jorge Baez Jorge Baez

Solving the Septic Tank Problems

People who live in rural areas are well acquainted with the problems of septic tanks and also know about the costs associated with the maintenance of septic tanks.

There are multitude ranges of indicators that help in determining the problems of the systems in septic tanks. One of the common indicators that help in this regard is the slow draining system. Businesses or houses that generally have drains that create gurgling noises or the ones which have slow draining process; are likely to create maximum obstructions.

The blockage may be occurring between the septic tank and the house or at the level of septic tank wherein the layer of scum blocks the inlet. Such problems may also cause the sewage back ups in the basement. One of the most common resolutions to these issues is the usage of chemical treatments in the pumping of the septic tanks. This is considered as the most effective solutions for combating the problems of septic tanks.

Another major symptom of septic tanks is soggy and wet absorption of the foul odour. This problem generally stems due to the failure of baffle outlet or due to clogs in the field of absorption. A fine working of the septic tank keeps the sludge and scum inside the system and lets the water flow through the absorption field. Though, when some of the solids get into the lines of outlet, the septic problems start occurring in the tank. As a remedial measure the role of second absorption system is highly important.

With the passage of time, technological advancements in the field of microbiology have simplified the process in a big way. They have opened the doors to safe, natural as well as cost effective solutions for the problems of septic tanks. The micro-based products that help in the treatment of the septic tanks help in minimizing the development of problems of septic tank systems.

Microbes In The Septic Tanks

Microbes naturally occur in the septic tanks due to the process of breakdown of the organic solids. Nevertheless, as the population of microbes diminishes with the usage of chemical treatments, the performance of septic tanks begin to suffer. On the other side, the natural ability of the tank in degrading the waste gets hindered to a large extent. At this level, the digestion of waste gets transformed from aerobic to anaerobic form. This is the prime reason for the slower breakdown as well as the putrid odour. Through this application of microbes, the aerobic digestion and biological activity gets restored into the system and this way optimum performance gets achieved.

In addition to this, microbial products also help in the treatment of foul smelling and soggy absorption fields. The microbes once get sprayed on the field; they break down solids that particularly make their way to the septic tanks. Along with this, they eliminate the clog of the absorption field as well as the associated odour. This way, the ability of soil to absorb water gets enhanced in a substantial manner.

So, one can say that the microbes present in the septic tanks are like the friends which help in the treatment of various problems related to septic tank.
