These tips don't come from some clueless internet blogger working in his mom's garage! Nor do they come from me!! I am forwarding these from an insider. Someone in the petroleum business. So consider these to be insider tips but you won't end up like Martha Stewart if you use them! This is just some useful information so you can economize at the gas station which is something that we all would benefit from. So let's get right to it then... 1. Fill up your vehicle or truck in the morning when the temperature is still cool. See, all filling stations have their storage tanks buried below the ground; so when the ground is coldest the gasoline is thickets and gasoline expands, conversely, when it gets warmer. The point? If you’re pumping in the mid ay or in the evening, what should be a gallon is not exactly a gallon. Bet you didn't know that. I didn't either. Let's continue... 2. Do you enjoy sediment in your coffee? Right. Your car doesn't enjoy it in its gas tank either. Even more so. Chunky sediment can even impede your fuel lines. If the filling station is having its underground tank filled at the time you show up to buy gasoline, wise to go some other place. Most likely dirt and sludge in the tank is being stirred up when gas is being delivered, and you might be transferring that dirt from the bottom of their tank into your car’s tank. This tip can save you more cash than just the price of gas. 3. Fill up when your gasoline tank is half-full (or half-empty), NOT when you are about to go dry as a bone on the interstate, because the more gasoline you have in your tank the less air there is and gasoline evaporates rapidly, especially on a warm day. 4. Minimize vaporization while you are filling. If you look at the trigger you’ll see that it has three delivery settings: slow, medium and high. When you’re filling up if you use the high setting then you will be creating the maximum amount of vaporization... low setting = less vaporization. Don't allow your greenback dollars be spent on useless vapor!
